challenge uk logo triathlon, triathlon events, triathlon newsChallenge UK have announced that record numbers of triathletes have signed up to their new race – Challenge Weymouth 2014. Organisers say they’ve had double the number of entries for both Challenge UK and Challenge Half than they did at the same time last year for their popular Henley race. See our review of that race here.

Part of the success is likely to come from a clever social media campaign organisers ran in the lead up to the launch of the race. Through a series of Twitter and Facebook updates, they drip-fed clues about where their 2014 event would be held which built a substantial amount of interest in the triathlon community and led to 900 people pre-registering without even knowing where it would be held.

Alan Rose, Race Director of Challenge Weymouth said: ‘We have had a record number of entries for Challenge Weymouth. In response to popular demand we have decided to extend the ‘Early Bird’ offer to 4th December, allowing more athletes to benefit from our competitive early booking discounts’.

Entry prices for Challenge Weymouth 2014 are as follows;

Individual Challenge Weymouth Prices

EARLY BIRD Until 04/12/2013: £310

05/12/2013 to 14/04/2014: £340

15/04/2014 onwards: £370
