It’s now less than a month until the commonwealth games kick off in Glasgow and at on 24th July at 11am some of the world’s best triathletes will be diving into the (probably) cold waters of Strathclyde Country Park to race for their countries.
For some athletes like England’s Alistair Brownlee, the whole year is being built around bringing home a gold.
As well as the individual titles, Glasgow 2014 sees the inclusion of a Mixed Relay event for the very first time at the Commonwealth Games.
This innovative format consists of two men and two women. Each athlete completes a ‘super-sprint’ triathlon of swimming, biking and running, before tagging off to their next team mate.

The action will take place in and around the Strathclyde Country Park on the outskirts of Glasgow.
The new race format should make for some thrilling racing and on the event’s website, organisers say the story of the day to Watch out for is the battle between Australia, New Zealand and Canada which have all so far toughed it out for Commonwealth Games Triathlon medals and they will most likely be the nations to beat in 2014.
